It has integrated information, communication and technology (ICT) into routine HIV service delivery, with strategic activities to explore, adapt, test, and recommend for scale up innovative ICT strategies to improve the program’s coverage among at-risk populations and people living with HIV (PLHIV). Traditionally, HIV programs have relied solely on in-person outreach, requiring significant mobilization of outreach workers to ensure broad coverage. While effective, this approach can be resource-intensive and time-consuming. As a result, the adoption of ICT is increasingly recognized as a vital innovation for accelerating the HIV response.
The National HIV Strategic Plan (2022–2026) emphasizes the transformative potential of e-health and m-health technologies in enhancing health literacy and providing instant access to healthcare services. In alignment with this vision, EpiC Nepal has introduced MeroSathi—a digital platform designed to connect at-risk individuals and PLHIV with life-saving HIV testing and treatment services across Nepal.
MeroSathi, which means “my friend” in Nepali, is an online reservation system designed to offer a simple and convenient way to book life-saving HIV testing services. It ensures your data is handled with the utmost care, maintaining complete anonymity and privacy throughout the process.
MeroSathi helps you to locate and plan a visit to an HIV testing clinic. The MeroSathi website displays a list of EpiC Nepal-supported sites that are closest and most convenient for you. You simply select your preferred location and time, provide a few basic details to help plan your visit—and just like that, your reservation is complete. Just take note of your reservation time and come in!
MeroSathi was made possible through funding support from President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief(PEPFAR) to EpiC Nepal. To ensure the platform effectively meets the needs of its users, the EpiC Nepal team conducted a series of consultations with key stakeholders to identify existing gaps in delivering life-saving HIV testing and treatment services online.
